Egyptian Blogger, Alaa Abdel-Fattah, Freed On Christmas Day

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

alaa abdel-fattah, manal hassanSup,

Alaa Abdel-Fattah, a prominent blogger in Egypt was freed today after being held in custody for more than two months on charges that he was responsible for inciting a riot that led to the deaths of 27 people.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Alaa Abdel-Fattah’s father, Ahmed Seif, told The Associated Press his son would remain in custody for several more hours until the paperwork has been completed. He said his son has been banned from travel abroad.

Abdel-Fattah’s sister, activist Mona Seif, told the AP her brother was on his way to the Egyptian capital’s security headquarters where he would be freed later in the day.

The military has accused Abdel-Fattah of inciting the Christian protesters to attack the soldiers. He was also accused of stealing a military weapon, deliberately destroying military property and attacking security forces.

He denies the allegations.

His supporters dismissed the claims, saying the military was trying to silence a prominent critic and to deflect blame on its soldiers in the violence. Abdel-Fattah wrote in newspaper articles he smuggled out of jail that his arrest was motivated in large part by his insistence on autopsies to determine the cause of the protesters’ deaths.

Several of the victims were found to have been killed by being run over, according to activists.

Whether he incited the riot or not, this is a nice Christmas story that will hopefully end with Abdel-Fattah making love to his wife, Manal, and bringing joy to the hearts of at least a few of Wacky Bastard’s many readers! Merry Christmas, Y’all!

Fox Bringin’ “Color” Back To TV

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

fox to revive in living color 2012Sup,

“In Living Color” was the greatest show on TV back in the 90′s, and I almost needed therapy when it went off air. “Lemme tell ya’ somethin’” and “Homey don’t play dat” came outta my mouth at least 10 times a day, while rockin’ the Cross Colours gear! Don’t get me wrong, I had sex with women on a regular basis. Anyway, Fox is bringing the “color” back to TV next year, and I couldn’t be more than ready.

CNN reports:

An updated version of the program will air as “two half-hour specials in the spring of 2012,” the network said in a statement. The exact dates of these shows have not been released.

Keenen Ivory Wayans, the original series’ creator and executive producer of the coming edition, will host the new episodes. Except for him, these shows will feature a new cast of “fresh, young talent,” according to Fox.

The show was a jumping-off point for several now mainstream performers like Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey, as well as Jennifer Lopez and “Dancing With the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba — who both were part of the “Fly Girls,” the show’s dance troupe. It also was a home base for several members of the Wayans family — Keenen, Damon, Kim, Marlon and Shawn.

Knew about Jennifer Lopez being a Fly Girl, but had no idea about Carrie Ann Inaba. She’s now relevant, and a little sexier, as far as I’m concerned. Good for her! All I need is a Cross Colours revival, and it’ll really be on!

Sports, Spirits and Stripping?

dockers alpha khakis fan contest

Sup,

So, Dockers is sponsoring some contests around the country, this Saturday, involving Sports, Spirits and Stripping. No really, I’m serious! They are sending teams out to various sports bars in major cities around the U.S. and selling it as follows – “Dare to drop trou and slip into the new Dockers Alpha Khakis to win a free pair of pants. Come by, grab a drink, watch the games. When you’re good and ready, take the challenge and wear the pants.”

When you’re good and ready? I’m no scientist, but I’m pretty sure that’s P.C. for  “good and drunk”. Guys, be careful! You’ll be D.W.I.ing it(Dressing While Intoxicated), and I can’t remember a time when that ever went smoothly.  Men in their drawers will most likely have me chillin’ at the crib, since that’s not my thing, as if I really have a choice. I live like 900 miles from the nearest city. Sounds like a good time, so I encourage those who can to check it out.

Anyway, peep the flyers below to find out where it’s happening in your town or, at least, near your town:

Wanna go to Heaven? Turn in a wallet with almost $5000 still in it!

woman turns in wallet with almost $5000Sup,

I lost my wallet at the mall once with, I think, like $17, some Chuck E. Cheese tickets and the usual stuff(license, social security card, etc.) in it. It was found a few hours later( I think outside The Buckle) with just the usual stuff in it. Yep, they even jacked the Chuck E. Cheese tickets. And yep, I was broke back then, so it stung a bit. Where was this chick when I needed her?

The Cleveland reports:

A 30-year-old Twinsburg woman didn’t think twice about turning in a wallet containing nearly $5,000 Thursday.

Leah Kleppinger took it to the Solon police station after finding it about 10:30 a.m. in a shopping cart outside of Bed Bath & Beyond at the Uptown Solon Shopping Center on Kruse Road.

“I looked inside the wallet and saw the license and credit cards,” Kleppinger said. “I noticed the cash, but I didn’t know how much. I knew that it was a substantial amount.”

I always knew Bed, Bath & Beyond was a good place to shop. My God there are some good people in the world. I know a few of ‘em(you know who you are). Unfortunately, none of them were around on that fateful day at the mall(yep, still hurts!).
